Michael Ronald Shewchuk

To know Mike was to love him. He lived a life full of laughter and love whether he was playfully teasing someone or telling a joke his quick wit was always kind and fun to be around.

Mike was a proud father who raised his two children in Port Alberni never missing their sporting events and often going on road trips with the team.

Mike was well known around town for his warm smile and daily walks with his much loved dog, Miss T. They could often be found walking the paths together along Kitsuksis Creek. You could also find him spending his days on the Cherry Creek Golf course with friends.

He worked as a proud and respected lumber inspector at the Somass Sawmill for over 40 years—Mike truly enjoyed his career at the mill telling his kids after retirement how lucky they were to go to work each day.

He is predeceased by his beloved daughter Lene, his cherished wife Sharon, and his loving parents, Josephine and Anton. Though their loss weighed heavily on him, Mike carried their memories with him every day.

He is survived by his son Mike (Jodi) Shewchuk, his stepsons and stepdaughter- Greg (Karen) Volkman, Gary Volkman, Grant Volkman, and Glenda (Doug) Noiles Grandchildren Keith, Kyle, Rebecca, Rachel, Vanessa, Sydney, Zoe, Tori, Gage, Jake, Nicole, Camryn and 7 great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
