Nerino Marocchi

Predeceased by his parents, Fortunato & Natalina. Sisters Ines & Rita. Survived by his devoted wife, of 64 years Lorenzina (Renza). His children Gloria Andres (Randy), Miro Marocchi, Silvia Bakken (Jordy). Grandchildren, Loren Andres, Spenser (Arthi) Andres. Great granddaughters, Samarah & Emrie. Brother Paolo (Rita) of Varone Italy, Sister Giuseppina of Fiave Italy. Sister-in-law Amabile of Tenno Italy as well as numerous nieces, nephews & cousins in both Canada & Italy.

In 1951 Nerino took a leap of faith & immigrated to Canada. He started his working career in the coal mines of Cumberland. From there he moved into the logging industry and became a high rigger.

In 1964 he moved his family to Port Alberni where he began working at Somass Mill, retiring in 1992.

Nerino had an immense dedication to family and friends. Along with a love of gardening, wine making, hunting and foraging for wild mushrooms & asparagus. Nerino was happiest when outdoors.

Funeral Mass is to be held at Holy Family Notre Dame Catholic Church on Wednesday March 4th, 2026 at 11:00 am with reception to follow. Nerino will be laid to rest at Alberni Valley Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, in Nerino’s name.
