She was born to Armand and Albertine Lafond on a homestead farm near the small farming community of Laventure, Saskatchewan in 1933, the fifth of 10 children. In 1951 at the age of 18 she emigrated to Port Alberni, BC to join other family members who had preceded her there. She initially lived at her grandparents and great uncle’s home and quickly found employment at a local drycleaner ironing sheets. From there she took up the opportunity for employment with MacMillan Bloedel at the Plywood plant doing various jobs. She met her husband Laurence Francoeur, who was also from Saskatchewan and they were married in 1954. She was predeceased by her husband Laurence in 1998 and is survived by her 3 children, Roger Francoeur (Glenda), Celine Wolkosky (Delmar) and Alice Francoeur, and one remaining sister, Muriel Francoeur. She presently has 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
She enjoyed a number of hobbies over the years such as woodworking and stained glass and was an avid and accomplished seamstress commissioned to sew many custom party and special occasion dresses for family and local socialites. Her main passion, however, was her family who were blessed with a very dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She remained active and lived independently in her own home almost to the end.
Special thanks to the kind staff of Ty Watson house and Rainbow Gardens for their care and compassion in Noella’s final days.
Family and friends are invited to join us for a celebration of her life at Cheery Creek Hall on Sunday, May 4th at 1:00pm.
