Tom passed away in West Coast General Hospital in Port Alberni on Friday, November 26, 2010 at the age of 70.
Predeceased by daughter Virginia, brother James and sister Christine. Tom is survived by sons; Garry (Jennifer), and Doug (Megan); grandchildren, Wyatt, Thomas, Christopher, and Caroline; sister, Pearl Eastend; brother, William (June) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Tom was born in Weyburn, Saskatchewan in 1940. He began his military career joining the PPCLI in 1957, and subsequently joined the Royal Canadian Engineers in 1961 working as a draftsman and a surveyor. He spent his entire working career in the Canadian military and finally retired as a MWO in 1988. Tom moved to the valley in 1993 where he became very involved in curling and the Royal Canadian Legion Br #169.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, December 2, 2010 from the Chapel of Memories, 4005 – 6th Ave, with Captain Neil Wilkinson officiating.
