

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beautiful Mother, on April 9, 2025, at the age of 96, at Arrowsmith Lodge in Parksville, BC
Velma was predeceased by her husband Andy, daughter Wanita, grandson Jason, son-in-law John, her parents, Frank and Annie, and siblings Nicholas, Pearl, John, Alice, Chester and Geraldine.
She is survived by her children, Rudy (Elaine), Bev (Rick), and Donna Mae. grandchildren, Trent, Shonn, Robbie, Nicole, Aaron and Stacey. great grandchildren, Steevi, Vince, Jake, Sadie, Shaina, Jaidyn and Coll.
Velma was born in Lestock, Saskatchewan, to parents Frank and Annie Blaskovich. She married her true love Andrew Veresh, on January 30, 1947, in Lestock, Saskatchewan. They moved to Abbotsford, BC the same year, then Kitimat in 1954 and finally to Port Alberni in 1955 where they remained. They bought a home out Cherry Creek in 1956 and she lived there until 2009.
Velma was a wonderful, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a fantastic cook and ultimate hostess to family and friends, near and far. Velma also loved playing softball, bowling and horseshoes (with her best friends, Hazel, Iris and Marilyn). Velma became the "ultimate" Avon Lady in 1964, and sold Avon right into her '70's. Velma loved going to Reno with her friends and loved going to the Legion for the Saturday meat draw and horse caller. Velma also loved dancing, her home was a place of many parties, where dancing went on into the wee hours of the morning.
Velma was loved by all for her kind heart, beautiful smile, loving hugs and so much more.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Society or Alzheimer's Society.
Service will be held at Chapel of Memories Funeral Home (4005 6th Avenue, Port Alberni, BC) at 12:00 noon, April 23rd, 2025 with interment following at 1:30 pm, at Alberni Valley Memorial Gardens (2300 Alberni Highway, Port Alberni, BC)
