Wally moved to Sayward to live on a farm with his parents and brother. His first job was selling gasoline by rowing a boat to Hardwick for 10 cents a gallon. His family sold milk by horse and wagon. Wally became a fisherman, selling herring and salmon on his boat Dianne XIIII. He was well known up and down the island, he eventually retired from logging in Franklin in 1990.
His favourite times, after retiring, were travelling with friends around Arizona and his trips to Hawaii cruising on the Panama with his beloved wife Flo.
We are happy Dad lived a full life. He will be missed by his many friends especially his wife and children.
A celebration of Wally's life will be held at a later date yet to be announced.
