Allan J Gallagher

Al was born in Oyster Bay, NY on September 5, 1939, one of 4 children of the late James & Frances (McCormack) Gallagher. He graduated from St. Dominic’s Catholic High School, then entered the US Navy to serve his country. Al married his wife, partner & great love of the past 58 years, Vivian (Realmuto) Gallagher.

Al is survived by his wife, Vivian, daughter Barbara Owens & her husband Neal of Port Charlotte, daughter Nicole Ferdella & her husband John of Paris, France and daughter Diane Foster & her husband Jeff of St. Mary’s, GA, his cherished grandchildren, Nicholas Owens of Port Charlotte, Alex Foster of St. Mary’s, GA, Gianna & Anthony Ferdella of Paris, France, Mike Crews & his wife Erica and Kelsey Moore of St. Mary’s, GA, 4 great-grandchildren, Clayton, Braelyn, Lincoln & Dawson, his sister Anne Barrett, sister-in-law Barbara Gallagher, brother-in-law Bill Barrett, many nieces & nephews & friends.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, James & his wife Margaret & Patrick, brother-in-law Andrew & his wife Nancy, grandchild Zachary Foster and great-grandchild Addie Crews.

Many lives were touched by Al’s kindness and willingness to help others. He was respected & loved by everyone who knew him.

Funeral Mass 11:00 am January 4th, 2022 at San Antonio Catholic Church, 24445 Rampart Blvd., Punta Gorda.

Inurnment will follow at Sarasota National Cemetary.

Memorial contributions may be made to Tidewell Hospice of Port Charlotte or Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
