Betsy Marie Anderson, later known as Betsy Marie Anderson Lane passed away on Monday, July 18, 2022 at the age of 62 at HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital in Port Charlotte, Florida. Born on October 16, 1959 in Cornwall, New York, she formerly resided in Highland Falls, New York before relocating to Port Charlotte in 2002.
After earning her high school diploma and Associate's Degree, Betsy worked in food service assisting with a family operated hotdog cart and catering company. She later worked as a secretary in a construction firm and most recently as a cashier at the Winn Dixie off of Kings Highway. Additionally, she previously volunteered at Tidewell Hospice and was an active member of several social organizations.
Betsy loved animals; owning several dogs and horses throughout her life. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, reading, music, and taking regular trips to Disney World.
What Betsy will truly be remembered for is who she was as a person; selfless, kind, and giving. Those who were fortunate enough to be close to her will never forget her fun, enthusiastic spirit and unconditional love. She was passionate about ensuring the people she loved were well taken care of, going above and beyond to make sure everybody in her life was comfortable and provided for.
There are countless stories that could demonstrate how deeply Betsy loved the people around her, but picking one or two would be impossible. What’s important is remembering her for who she was; the absolute best mother, a loving wife, and a wonderful friend. She could talk to anybody, but those select few that she chose to get close to, she loved like family.
In passing on, Betsy rejoins her loved ones, husband Richard Andrew Anderson; parents Anne and Raymond Mesaris; and brother Raymond Mesaris Jr. She is lovingly survived by her second husband, Claude Thomas Lane of Port Charlotte; daughter Emily Marie Anderson of Tampa, Florida; sister Kathryn Pole of Denton, Texas; sister Christine Deegan of Haverstraw, NY; women she loved like family Kristen Marie Havener of Martin, Tennessee; Victoria Rachel Randall of Hilliard, Ohio; Cathy Ross of Port Charlotte; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 6th from 11 am - 1 pm at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home in Port Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Tidewell Foundation (https://tidewellfoundation.org/donate/) supporting hospice care.
