
Bill E. Midgett, 86, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away December 15, 2011. He was born September 18, 1925 in Punta Gorda to Cicero and Rilla (Whidden) Midgett and was a lifelong resident of the area. He attended Charlotte High School. Bill had been a commercial fisherman and shrimp boat Captain on the "Capella". He also worked as a Superintendant in bridge and marine construction throughout the area. He retired in 2004. He was a true outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing mullet, camping on the islands and gardening. He loved to play the guitar and had performed on the radio, and locally at the Shell Creek Inn and other venues. He was a hard working man, loved by many and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Gene (Doris) Midgett of Punta Gorda; Paul (Barb) Midgett of Port Charlotte and Christy (Ron) Crandall of Port Charlotte; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. He was pre deceased by his wife Doris and son Daniel, both in 1980, as well as his twin brother, Harold; his brother Dude and his parents.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm till 4:00 pm, Monday December 19, 2011 at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E Marion Avenue, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday December 20, 2011 at the funeral home with burial to follow at Indian Springs Cemetery.
