Bruce R. Hurt

He was born on July 23, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois to Buford Hurt and Lillian Matonik Hurt. Bruce was a Mechanical Engineer, retiring in 1997. He came to this area from Chicago, Illinois in October of 1996 and in 1998 he and his wife, Eva opened E & B Home Health Agency, where he worked until his death. Bruce was an avid fisherman, a member of San Antonio Catholic Church and served in the US Air Force from 1954 until 1958. The Hurt family would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that was involved in the wonderful care given to my husband during his illness.

Survivors include his wife, Eva Hurt of 30 years; his son, Adam of Punta Gorda, Florida; 2 daughters, Ann of Punta Gorda, Florida and Laura of Sarasota, Florida and his uncle, Irving Matonik also of Punta Gorda, Florida. Bruce was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey who died, September of 2005.

Visitation Thursday, April 28, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. with a scripture service at 7:00 p.m. at Kays-Ponger and Uselton Funeral Home 2405 Harbor Blvd. Port Charlotte, Florida.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 29, at 11:00 a.m. at San Antonio Catholic Church 24445 Rampart Blvd. Port Charlotte Florida.

Entombment will follow at Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
