

Carol Joyce Crook, 87, known to those who knew and loved her as “Joyce,” of North Port, FL, departed from this life on May 2, 2024. She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones, after a long battle with vascular dementia.
She was born in Detroit, MI, on Feb. 23, 1937, to her parents Harold and Ramona Louise Davis (both deceased). Joyce married George Crook of Valleyfield, Quebec, on July 31, 1964, at St. Clair Shores, MI. They had many happy years together.
Her employment history included J.L. Hudson Department Store, a Sign & advertising company & held various secretarial positions.
She joyfully raised her children & was very active in their lives. Joyce also assisted her husband in many business ventures and traveled the world with him. She resided & made many of her houses feel like home in Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Connecticut, and Florida.
Joyce’s favorite activities included sailing, as First Mate to Captain Crook; Salty Sisters Ladies Sail Club; Golfing (Niners Ladies Golf Club); ceramics, art; raising her children; walking and enjoying nature & bird watching. Joyce was known to break into dance spontaneously at the sound of a happy song. She was a familiar daily sight in her neighborhood on her three-wheeled bicycle. One of Joyce's precious legacies was her gentle and gregarious nature. Known for her bright smile, her humor and she was kind to everyone. She always said “ the more the merrier” and would never exclude anyone & greet them with love.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband, George Crook; and George Crook Jr. She is survived by her sister Peg (Davis) Cius (husband Bud); Children ; Cynthia Crook, Thomas Crook (wife Claudia), Kim Hakey (husband Bill) Grandchildren; Ashley, Chloe, Tom, Stephen, Michael, Amanda; and great-grandchildren; Xane, Mikayla & Jonathan.
Private Services will be held in the future per Joyce's wishes.
