Chris was born in Teaneck, New Jersey to Robert Joseph Gautier and Lois Theresa Sheridan Gautier on April 16, 1976.
Chris (affectionately known as “Jerz” to his friends) enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in 1996 and served aboard the USCGC Vigorous. After his discharge, Chris moved to Texas where he made his home and raised his family. Chris graduated from the Texoma Regional Police Academy in 2002, working with several local police departments before serving with the Grayson County Sheriff’s Department as a Sheriff’s Deputy for 12 years.
Chris had a huge heart and was always there for anyone who needed him. He had an engaging personality and sense of humor that made people want to be near him.
Chris was passionate about sports, especially University of Texas football. He loved his dogs, the beach, hanging out with his friends, golf, and collecting sports memorabilia. Most of all, Chris loved being a father. He was extraordinarily proud of his sons, Scott and Kevin, and loved spending time with them.
Chris is preceded in death by his father, Robert Gautier, and mother, Lois Gautier.
Chris is survived by those he loved: sons, Scott and Kevin Gautier; sister, Suzanne Gautier; brother-in-law, Michael Jellema; nieces, Alicia Armas and Elana Morillo; step-daughters, Camryn and Peyton Cottingham; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.
