Dennis E. "Barney" Bondarnko, 64, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away peacefully on September 3, 2011 at the Tidewell Hospice House following a long illness. He was born August 25, 1947 in Flint, MI. Barney, as he was known to his friends, was a longtime resident of Punta Gorda. He was a US Marine veteran, who served his country in Vietnam, was wounded and received the Purple Heart. In his youth, he loved motorcycles and in his later years, enjoyed crossword puzzles and Sodoku. He will be dearly missed by his friends and family.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Robin Crist of Flint, MI; his grandson, Ryan Crist, currently serving in the US Army in Iraq; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins in Michigan. Special to his heart was his Uncle Dick Boyle of Clarkston, MI, his cousin Joey Savoie and his closest friend, George W. "Scottie" Scott of Punta Gorda, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Bondarnko of Lehigh Acres.
A Graveside Service with military honors will be held at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Flint, MI at a later date.
