Dorothy J Cole, 76 of Placida, Florida passed away Monday October 11, 2010 at Venice Hospital surrounded by members of her family. She was the daughter of Thomas and Onie (Vickers) Hamilton, born September 1, 1934 at home in Pearson, Georgia.
She moved from Georgia to Placida in 1953 where she lived her remaining years. Dorothy was a member of the Placida Road Church of God for many years where she enjoyed singing in the church choir. Dorothy was also an accomplished commercial fisherman, and owner of Dot's Clam Nursery providing clam seeds to numerous clients from Cedar Key to Pine Island. Dorothy was happiest when she was on the water fishing or crabbing or on the dock tending her clams. For those that knew her well, she was the queen of coconut pies and her famous hush puppies.
She will be missed greatly by her husband Wayne (Buck) Cole of 57 wonderful years together. They not only loved and cherished one another, they were a team (in every aspect) as quoted by many. She is also survived by her sister Mary Lou Courson of Ft Myers, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a celebration of life to follow at the Placida Road Church of God. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Placida Road Church of God.
