

Dorothy D. Peck, 89, of Port Charlotte, FL passed away peacefully June 24, 2010 in her home at South Port Square. She was born December 10, 1920 in New Jersey, the daughter of Harry C. and Anne G. Dorer. In 1942, she graduated from Newark State Teachers College and married her Navy Ensign, Ralph. After living in New Jersey for ten years, the Pecks moved to Bethesda, MD where Dorothy was busy working with church and civic organizations and raised their two daughters. She came to Punta Gorda Isles in 1986 where she became a member of St Andrews South Golf. As a member of Burnt Store Presbyterian Church, she participated in church activities and as an enthusiastic member of the choir. For the past eleven years, Dorothy has resided at South Port Square. Throughout her life, music and singing have been her passion. Everywhere she has lived, she sang alto in church and community groups. She often described herself as a "professional volunteer" for all the time she devoted to charitable works. With her husband, she traveled widely both in the US and abroad. They participated in more than 20 Elder Hostel events.
She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Ralph C. Peck; her daughters, Nancy (Edward) Sullivan, and Lois Davis; grandchildren, Meghan Wilson, Edward (Dawn) Sullivan, Kerry (Kris) Gholson, Douglas (Jenn) Davis, Sean Sullivan and Katie (Michael) Vivar and eight great grandchildren.
