

Edward P. Mondo, 84, passed away on April 16, 2015 in Englewood, Florida. Edward was born on May 15, 1930 in Syracuse, NY. �"Spanky,†to friends and family, Edward thrived in the Syracuse area as the owner of several successful businesses including �"Jack and Jill’s Pub†and �"Cagney’s Pub & Restaurant.†Edward, no stranger to hard work, additionally ran his own gas and service stations including, �"Ed Mondo’s Shell†which is still in operation at 1127 S. Salina St. in Syracuse where Edward’s sons, Mark, Peter, John Paul, and Eddie, continue to keep the family business alive. Edward was also an avid sports fan. He was a player and coach for the Syracuse Bisons semi-pro football team and participated in bowling and golf leagues and sponsored softball teams through his restaurant. He enjoyed attending games at Syracuse University, cheering on the Orangemen. Edward retired to Florida in the early 90’s to watch his grandson, Matthew Catanzarite, play basketball and baseball. Edward was the beloved husband of Grace M., (Iannuzzi), devoted father of Donna Catanzarite (Tom), Mark (Jodi), Benedetto (deceased), Stephanie Sweeny (John), Edward, Peter, John Paul and Maria Boardman (Brian). A cherished grandfather and great grandfather. A dear brother of Anthony B. and Rose Marie (both deceased). Edward will be honored at a celebration of life memorial at St. Francis of Assisi, Grove City, FL on May 22, 2015 at 10:00am. Internment in the Memorial Garden, St. Francis of Assisi.
