Elizabeth E. Edwards, 88, of Port Charlotte, FL passed away June 13, 2018 at her residence. She was born December 23, 1929 in Philadelphia, PA to John and Martha Allen. Before retiring, Elizabeth worked as an Office Manager with Communications Plus in Davie, Florida where she previously resided.
She was a member of the Port Charlotte United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed riding the bus to church and making new friends. She was a member of H2U where she attended Zumba classes and Fitness Fun with Ken exercise classes in addition to attending plays and traveling with the group there. Her favorite trip was always going to the Casino. The family would like to thank the staff and other members of H2U for their help and kindness to Miss Lizzie. She was also a member of the Cultural Center where she attended plays and band performances.
When she couldn't find a trip or activity to participate in, she went to the movies. She liked all kinds of movies and typically went to see new shows 4 times each week. I am sure she will be missed by the staff at Regal Cinema. She enjoyed going out to dinner with friends and attending family gatherings.
She is survived by her children, Kathleen (Frank) Loughrey of Port Charlotte, FL; Eric (Kathi Phillips) Springman of Atlanta, Georgia, Grandchildren Tina Davila, Brian Loughrey, Tiffany Minervini, Stori and Zaya Springman; Great Grandchildren Brooke and Brandon Zimmerman, Joshua and Jessica Davila, Kathryn Loughrey and Steven Salamida. Elizabeth is also survived by her Ex-husband, Bill Edwards, of Hollywood, Florida, who despite having been divorced for many years, continued their 56 yearlong love affair.
She loved life and lived it to the fullest. She loved laughter and having fun and she will be missed by friends and family alike. She taught us to find the humor in everything and make fun out of whatever comes your way. And most of all, if life situations knock you down, pick yourself up, dust yourself off and keep on going. And we will take our lessons from her.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 11:00 at the Port Charlotte United Methodist, 21075 Quesada Ave, Port Charlotte, FL 33952.
Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a donation to Port Charlotte United Methodist Church Bus Ministry.
