George W. Baker

George W. Baker, Jr., 79, passed away Monday, March 21, 2016 in Port Charlotte, FL. George was born October 22, 1936 in Ridgley, WV son of the late Kitty and George W. Baker, Sr. George was a retired clerk for the Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad after 32 years of service. George was a free and accepted mason and member of Orion Lodge #353 in Conneaut, OH and an honorary member of the Masonic Lodge #115 in Punta Gorda, FL. George moved to the Port Charlotte area from Conneaut, OH in September of 1996.

George is survived by his loving wife, Doris Baker of Port Charlotte, two daughters, Cindy Baker of Longmeadow, MA and Catherine Johnston and husband Mitchell of McMechan, WV; one son, Chris Baker and wife Lynn of Anderson, SC; one brother and two sisters, Donald Baker and wife Roxie of Murrysville, PA, Donna Johnson of Laurel, MD and Jane Hess of Martinsburg, WV. Thirteen grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and many other nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Family and friends will gather from 10 to 11am on Friday, March 25th at Kays-Ponger & Uselton, Punta Gorda Chapel with a Masonic Funeral Service to follow at 11am. A luncheon will follow the service at Masonic Lodge #115, 25349 Airport Road, Punta Gorda, FL.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Masonic Lodge #115, Punta Gorda, FL in George’s name.
