

Gerald "Jerry" T. Pelky, 62, of North Port, FL passed away October 27, 2014 at home following a very courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 7, 1952 in Ypsilanti, MI to Alfred and Molly (Rice) Pelky. Jerry graduated from South Lyon High School in 1970 and served in the US Army being honorably discharged. Jerry's working career was started by being mentored by his father as a commercial carpenter and continued on to establishing his own commercial contracting business. Upon moving to Florida in 2006, he worked and retired from Commercial Contracting in Sarasota. Jerry loved to fish the Great Lakes, enjoyed duck and goose hunting and loved his three labs (his four legged kids). He was a member of the American Legion and Ducks Unlimited. He was loved by anyone who met him and will be missed by all.
He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Judy Pelky of North Port, FL. His children, Cory (Eric) Morlan of Tucson, AZ; Carrie (Rick) Tache of Tucson, AZ and Joseph DelCimmuto of Midland, MI; grandchildren, Canyon and Brooke Morlan and Isaiah, Matthew and Sophia Tache; his mother, Molly Pelky of South Lyon, MI; brothers, Al (Denice) Pelky of Brighton, MI and Kim (Joann) Pelky of South Lyon, MI and sister, Michelle (Dave) Jackson of South Lyon, MI. Father and Mother-In-Law, Doug and Joyce DeVore of Punta Gorda, FL. He was predeceased by his father Alfred Pelky.
The family will receive friends from 1:00pm till 2:00pm, Saturday November 8, 2014 at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 1935 S Tamiami Trail, Venice, FL 34293. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2pm Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider making a donation to the Suncoast Humane Society, 6781 San Casa Dr, Englewood, FL 34224.
