He moved to Port Charlotte 21 years ago coming from Maryland. Mr. Evans was retired after 39 years as Lieutenant Commander with the U.S. Navy, and had served on the USS Arizona. He was a Mason and a member of the Retired Military Officers Association of America.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Evans of Port Charlotte; his sons, Robert M. Evans of Gaithersburg, Maryland; William Duncan of Yreka, California; his daughter, Midi D. Hall of Port Charlotte, Florida; his 16 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday September 29, 2007 at 10:00 AM at Peace Lutheran Church, 21500 Gibralter Dr., Port Charlotte, with a graveside service with military honors to be held at 11:30 AM at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens.
