

Gordon L. Lowe, 88 of Port Charlotte, Fl., passed away Sunday, March 18, 2012, at Heartland Health Care Center in Sarasota. He was born March 9, 1924 in Stevensville, MD to Effie & George S. Lowe. He was a native of Salisbury, MD and moved to Florida with his wife Jean Lowe in 1989.
Gordon was a retired Chief Warrant Officer of the US Army. He saw action during World War II in Casablanca, North Africa and the China-Burma Theater. He also later saw action in North Korea with the 35th Infantry Regiment. He received a number of medals and decorations including the Purple Heart with two clusters.
Membership included Lodge 337 of the Free Masons, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Order of the Purple Heart in Port Charlotte.
After his retirement, he worked 20 years in automobile sales. Retiring from the Good News Dealership in Salisbury.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Jean Lowe, two brothers, Alfred and George Lowe and a sister Ruth Wilkins.
Gordon is survived by two sons Victor Lowe and Kenneth Lowe. Six Grandchildren, Lauren Bennett, Diane Lowe, Ryan Lowe, Megan Lowe, Matt Lowe and Courtney Lowe. Three Great grandchildren, Cody Bennett, Tyler Bennett and Carson Bennett. He is also survived by a lifelong friend of the family George Beck.
Arrangements are by Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Homes & Cremation Services in Port Charlotte, FL. Visitation will be held 12:00 to 1:30 PM on Thursday, March 22, 2012 with services at 1:30 PM with interment following the service at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens in Punta Gorda, FL.
