Helen M Lilly

Helen Mae Calvert Lilly 95 years of age and a long-time resident of Beckley, West Virginia passed away on Monday June 16, 2025 in her home in Florida that she shared with her daughter.

Born November 29,1929 in Princewick, West Virginia and attended Woodrow Wilson high school in Beckley, West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry John Lilly and her parents Vince Calvert and Bessie Rylant Calvert, stepmother Retha Calvert, sisters Imogene Law, Gerri Welch, brother Billy Calvert, half-brother Vince Calvert Jr. and her beloved son Ronald Earl Lilly.

She is survived by her daughters Barbara Lilly Liskey (William Liskey) and Peggy Lilly Haynes (Colby Haynes), her son Mike Lilly (Dianna Lilly) and daughter-in-law Donna Lilly, half-brother Danny Calvert, half sister Karen Calvert, and sister-in-law Betty Lilly. She has 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 13 great great grandchildren.

She was a devoted loving mother that loved life and all her family and friends and was always willing to help when needed. She was a fierce woman who accomplished raising four children ages 13 to 7 after losing her husband at the early age of 30. She worked attentively as a homemaker and cook who taught her family the special meaning of shared holidays and home cooked meals. She loved to read, and it was her lifeline hobby. She loved her morning coffee while reading the newspaper, a good gossip magazine, and to always have a library book close by. She had many friends and was so loved by many people that met her. She always traveled to visit her adult children and their family and sent Hallmark greetings for every occasion. Her family and friends meant everything to her.

For many years, she was an active bowler on several local bowling leagues and she also was very active in the sorority Beta Sigma Phi where she was crowned Sigma Queen in 1960. She moved to Texas in her eighties and Florida in her nineties to be closer to her children.

A graveside service is schedule for July 23rd, 2025 at 3PM at Blue Ridge Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 5251 Robert C Byrd Dr, Beckley, WV 25801.
