During this time he worked as a barber/hair stylist, owning his own shop in Jacksonville for years. His shop was a hub for his community, welcoming people of all walks of life, regaling his patrons with lively conversations, laughter, and philosophical debates.
In his late 40s Ian moved to Port Charlotte to help take care of his aging parents. He could be found working at the Port Charlotte Community Center, or spending time with his best friend, his younger brother Trevor.
