
James E. Alexander, 61 of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away on November 14, 2007 while awaiting a double lung transplant at Tampa General Hospital. Jim was born on June 19, 1946 in Chanute, Kansas, the son of Ruth and Elmer Alexander. He graduated from Chanute High School in 1964 and married Linda Horine in 1965. He attended Emporia State University prior to joining the United States Army in 1966 and was honorably discharged in 1969. He worked in the grocery industry before joining Kraft Foods in 1974 where he worked in various management positions until retirement in 2002. Upon retirement Jim and Linda relocated from Overland Park, Kansas to Port Charlotte where they enjoyed sailing. Jim was a proud member of the Peace River Power Squadron, a unit of the United States Power Squadron's Sail and Power Boating division.
Jim is survived by his wife Linda, son Aaron -Olathe, Kansas, daughter Abigail and son-in-law Troy Stremming, grandchildren Jackson and Sydney - Overland Park, his mother Ruth - Chanute, and sister Janis Ezell-Baltimore. Jim was preceded in death by his father Elmer.
