Jean L. Richard

RICHARD, Jean Marion (née Lyons) age 85 of Punta Gorda, Florida passed away on August 18, 2014. She was born on September 6, 1928 in Dedham, Massachusetts to John and Mabel (Scot) Lyons. She graduated from Dedham High School and later earned a BA in History from the University of Illinois. Jean worked her early years for the United States Air Force at the Pentagon in Washington, DC, before marrying and dedicating her life to her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 59 years Charles W. Richard Jr., brother John Lyons, sister Jane (Lyons) Cotter, children Charles W. Richard III and Wytske Kingma, Chris and Sue (Armstrong) Richard, Megan Richard, Melissa and Bo Kahui, Tami Johnson, David and Denise (Trentman) Richard, Trisha Richard Taylor, Jennifer Richard and Scott Hartman, 20 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, August 22, 2014 at 11:00am at Sacred Heart Church in Punta Gorda, FL. Family will receive friends at 12:00 noon at the Church directly after the services. Burial will follow at Sarasota National Cemetery at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Jean's favorite charity Smile Train (www.smiletrain.org).
