Leonard "Bull" Bolyard Sr., 76, went to be with our Lord and Savior Wednesday, August 14, 2013, after a long illness. He was born in Lapeer, Michigan on March 24, 1937. Bull was well known for his love of racing, from the small tracks to NASCAR. He was on Benny Parsons pit crew when he raced his first NASCAR race and won the Daytona ARCA 300. He worked on many race cars over the years and developed many lifelong friends.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara (Thibodeau) Bolyard and his eight children; Robin (Mark) DeHaven, Debra (John) Dittrich, Leonard (Susan) Bolyard Jr., Walter (Cynthia) Bolyard, Susan (Mark) Hand, John Bolyard, David (Cherie') Bolyard and Pamela (James) Davis; 34 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren with 3 greats on the way. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Bolyard and Edna (Simmons) Radcliffe, and his brother Leroy R. Bolyard.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am till 1:00 pm, Monday, August 19, 2013 at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E Marion Ave, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. The Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 pm, Monday at the funeral home with Brother Ellis Cross officiating. Burial will follow at Charlotte Memorial Gardens in Punta Gorda.
