

Louis J. Torchia, 73, of Port Charlotte, FL passed away peacefully October 1, 2017. He was born October 20, 1943 in Johnstown, PA. A graduate of Johnstown High School, Class of 1961, he worked as a truck driver for Anderson Paper Company and Morris Paper Company in Johnstown, PA. He also worked at Jim's Sunoco in Johnstown, PA. After relocating to Florida, he was employed by Florida Rock Industries, St. Joseph's Hospital and the Charlotte County School District.
He was a member of St. Maximillian Kolbe Catholic Church (FL) and St. Therese Church (PA)
and was a member of the Teamsters Union, Sons of Italy and the NRA.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sharon Davis Torchia; son Louis J. Torchia Jr, Cape Coral, FL; daughter, Kristi, wife of James Hugglestone II, Sarasota, FL, and two grandchildren, James and Liam Hugglestone. He is also survived by his siblings, Margaret J. Stewart of Ephrata, PA, Patricia A. Homan of Johnstown, PA and Stephen F. Torchia and wife Patricia, of North Port, FL, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents Stephen S. Torchia and Margaret Komara Torchia.
A Memorial Service will be at 11:00am, Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 2405 Harbor Blvd, Port Charlotte, FL 33952. Final resting place will be at the Richland Cemetery in Johnstown, PA.
