Marge was born May 20, 1924, in Chelsea, Massachusetts, the daughter of Thomas and Helen (Corr) Rogan. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1942 and served our country in World War II as a Pharmacist Mate in the US Navy. She, her parents and two daughters moved to Port Charlotte, Florida in July 1959. Marge moved to Sarasota, Florida in 1970 after marrying Arthur (Art) Hain and then resided there until 2007, when she moved back to Port Charlotte.
Prior to enlisting in the US Navy, Marge worked for General Electric in Lynn, Massachusetts (a real-life Rosie the Riveter). Marge worked in a variety of occupations throughout her life and retired from Sears Roebuck in 1990. She was an avid reader who loved traveling, knitting, crocheting and the lost art of tatting. For many years she made and donated numerous trach covers, bed socks and lap blankets to the Veteran’s home in Sarasota and Bay Pines Veteran’s Hospital, along with making rosary beads for St. Martha’s Catholic Church in Sarasota. Marge was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, WAVES, American Legion, VFW, Eagles, Elks Club, Knights of Columbus and Showfolks of Sarasota. Marge especially cherished spending time with her family and friends. Anyone who knew Marge knows she never met a stranger and had a deep and abiding faith in God which she believed saw her through the difficult times in her life.
Grateful to have shared Marge’s life are her daughter, Eileen Laughlin of Topeka; grandchildren Dennis Bosze (Karen) of Tennessee, Mickie Brassel of Topeka, Jamie Wilson of N. Ft.
