Marie A. Harden

Marie Arlene Harden died on March 7, 2015. Survived by husband, Archie Harden, Rotonda West, FL and four children: Mark, Clarkston, MI; Pamela Smith-Beatty (Dennis), Tampa, FL; Nancy Rossi (Walter), San Carlos, CA; Karen Matynowski (David), Clarkston, MI, and loved by seven grandchildren. Preceded in death by siblings Delores Pence (Harold), Lawrence Niemi (Lorelei), and Kathy Forsman (William), and surviving siblings include brother, Stanley Niemi (Nancy), Ontonagon, MI and sister, Mary Tormala (Ken), Atlantic Mine, MI.

Born on May 24, 1935 in Atlantic Mine, MI Arlene graduated from Houghton High School in 1953. She moved to Detroit, MI and obtained her diploma in Nursing from Highland Park General Hospital. For 20 years she worked as a RN at South Macomb Hospital in Warren, MI. Since moving to FL, Arlene was a former member of Rotonda Golf and Country Club, lifelong member of Rotonda Women’s Club, volunteered at Helping Hands Food Bank in Englewood, and remained a faithful member of Trinity and Redeemer Lutheran Churches, where she worked on the Women’s Guild and Assimilation Committee.

Funeral will be held at Lemon Bay Funeral Home on Friday, March 13, 2015, with a gathering of friends and family at 10:00 a. m. and Celebration of Life service at 11:00 a. m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Tidewell Hospice Englewood.
