Mary Elizabeth "Sister" Sawyer, 72, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away May 10, 2013. She was born June 12, 1940 in Irondale, AL to John T. and Mary (Hollaway) Bailey, Sr. She moved to Punta Gorda, FL when she was fifteen years old and worked for Gulf Shore Seafood for 25 years before retiring to enjoy her life. She loved fishing, going in the woods and being with her family and friends.
Momma Liz leaves behind her daughter, DK (David) Wells-Stewart, son, Tony (Margie) Sawyer, all of Punta Gorda; her sisters, Leona (Ray) Murray, Roselee (Roger) Byrd and Eloise Bailey; brother, Donald Bailey; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews as well as her beloved dog, Elvis. She went to heaven to be with her parents, brothers, Odis Bailey and John Bailey Jr and her son Kenny Sawyer. Grandma Liz will be missed by many and always loved.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon till 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 18, 2013 at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E Marion Ave, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. The Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 pm, Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Roger Byrd officiating. Burial will follow at Indian Springs Cemetery.
