

great grandfather, 85 of Lake Suzy, Florida, died on July 5, 2010. He
was born on September 4, 1924 in the Ukraine, the son of the late
Elizabeth and Matthew Boryskewich. Walter came to Canada in 1938
and later served in the Canadian Navy in World War II on a minesweeper
He married Barbara Kudla in Hamtramck, Michigan on June 8, 1946.
He was educated in Kirkland Lake, Ontario and received his degree from
Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He worked for Chrysler Corp.
for 37 years and retired as production control manager in 1981. Mr. Boyd
was active in the Ukraine Church in Michigan and St. Andrews and St. Mary's
in North port. He was instrumental in the building of the St. Andrews Ukrainian
Village in North Port. Mr. Boyd was the inspiration for his five sons in making
Boyd Brothers a success.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Barbara and five sons, Edward (Kathleen),
Eugene (Kathy), Robert (Bonnie), Ronald ( Marianne), and Walter (Tina). He
is also survived by twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mr. Boyd
will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation Thursday July 8, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with a Panachyda at 7:30
at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home 2405 Harbor Blvd. Port Charlotte, Fl
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday July 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St.
Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in North Port, FL.
