

Nancy Paddock Briggs, 77, of Venice, FL, passed away peacefully early Sat. evening, July 23, at the home of her daughter Andrea and son-in-law Brian Bartman in Parrish, FL, surrounded by her loving family. Nancy was born October 9, 1938 in Dundee, NY, and spent most of her life there, moving to warm, sunny Florida after her retirement as a self-employed cosmetologist and her husband Robert's retirement as a teacher in NY.
Nancy particularly enjoyed being active in the Venice Gardens Civic Assoc., adding her culinary and organizational skills while helping prepare numerous meals for social events. She took great pride in her family and home. When she was still able, she loved Venice Beach and taking day trips to interesting places. She had a contagious sense of humor and a great love of music.
Nancy is survived by her husband Robert, daughter Kelly Opelt (husband William), North Port, FL; daughter Andrea Bartman (husband Brian), Parrish, FL; grandchildren Lauren, Cameron, and Logan Opelt and Wyatt Bartman, all living nearby in FL.
She is also survived by siblings, Evelyn Jayne, Mary Lou Webster, Jane Miller, Betty Hansen, and James Paddock, living in the Dundee, NY, area. She was predeceased by siblings Eleanor Thompson, George Paddock, Richard �"JR†Paddock, and Ralph Paddock.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Venice Gardens Civic Association, 406 Shamrock Blvd., Venice, FL, on Saturday, Aug. 6 from 2pm-4pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tidewell Hospice. A celebration in her hometown of Dundee, NY, is being planned for a later date.
