

Pauline Marie “Polly” Cline Becker, 89, of Venice, FL, passed away suddenly at her home on August 24, 2016. She was born on November 1, 1926 to Hattie (nee Hall) and Oscar Cline at the family home in Wingett Run, Ohio. She was a 1944 graduate of Marietta High School and attended Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.
Polly was the Director of the Senior Citizens Center & Retired Senior Volunteer Program in Washington County, OH for 17 years until her retirement in August 2015. On November 26, 1949, she married Rolin “Beck” Otto Becker in Marietta and they raised three daughters. Polly and Beck moved to Venice, Florida from Marietta after retirement in September 1985.
During her retirement, she served as Secretary and Board Member of the Golden Beach Association, was an Election Poll Worker and was instrumental in founding the first Neighborhood Crime Watch in Golden Beach. She was a member of the American Legion Post 64 Auxiliary, the Junior Business League, and the Norwood United Methodist Church. Polly enjoyed spending time with her family. She and her husband enjoyed square dancing and traveling with friends, visiting all fifty States, The Caribbean, Europe and China.
She is survived by two daughters, Pamela J. Becker and Becky L. Bishop, both of Venice, FL and one granddaughter, Tamara M. Becker of San Antonio, TX. Polly was pre-deceased by her husband, Rolin, and her oldest daughter, Sonja K. Becker.
Services will be announced at a later time. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
