
Richard A. Hartman, Sr, 87, of Englewood, FL passed away June 15, 2014. He was born October 24, 1926 in Baltimore, MD and moved to this area in 1981 from Joppa, MD. Before his retirement, he worked as a Mechanical Engineer at the Edgewood Arsenal with the US Government. He was a WWII Veteran, serving with the Merchant Marines. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, playing golf and boating. He was an avid Corvette enthusiast and owned many Corvettes over the years. Mr. Hartman was a member of the Englewood Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Theresa Hartman of Englewood, FL; children, Carolyn (Kevin Reddington) Hartman of New Milford, CT; Richard Hartman of Joppa, MD; Robert (Heather) Hartman of Bel Air, MD; step-children, Peter (Dayna) Jung of Lake Worth, FL; Angelique (Wade) Waltimyer of North Port, FL and Steven Jung of South Gulf Cove, FL; 5 grandchildren and a sister, Floss Cromwell of Baltimore, MD.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:30 pm, Sunday September 7, 2014 at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home 1935 S Tamiami Trail, Venice, FL 34293. Inurnment with military honors will be at 11:00 am, Monday, September 8, 2014 at the Sarasota National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider making a donation to Tidewell Hospice at tidewell.org
