
Bob Burton, 80 of Port Charlotte, FL, formerly of Visalia, CA, passed away on July 8, 2007, at the Tidewell Hospice House in Port Charlotte. He was the long time Director of Physical Therapy at Kaweah Delta Health Care Center and was owner of RE Burton and Associates, a private physical therapy out-patient office. He was originally married to Beatrice and together had 5 children: Robert Dean deceased, Richard Lyle, Barbara Denise, Debora Lynn, and Michael Kent. Later he was married to Neva.
Bob was active in the Visalia Host Lions Club and the Visalia Country Club. He was President of San Joaquin Region Porsche Club of America and was the founder of the Valley Oak Region Porsche Club of America where he served as President and Newsletter Editor. He was active in the California Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association, serving in several offices including President. He attended the Quarterback Club and the Mens Breakfast of the Visalia United Methodist Church. Bob and Neva moved to Port Charlotte, Florida in 2003, where he was active and held offices in the American Merchant Marines Robert J MacAlvanah Chapter, and the Marine Cops League. He organized the Heritage Oak Park Marines in the community where he lived. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Punta Gorda.
Bob is survived by his wife, Neva; children Rick Burton of Visalia, CA; Barbara and Chuck Thiele of New Meadows, ID; Debora and Brent Mize and Zachary and Noah of Lakewood, CO; Mike and Sonya Burton and Mallory, Madison and Seth of Port Charlotte, FL; grandson, Doug Burton of Truckee, CA; brother, Herb and Jeanne Burton of San Jacinto, CA; sister Mary Lou Green of Saratoga, CA; and a host of friends in California, Florida and Oregon.
A memorial service of Bobs life will be held at the Heritage Oak Park Lodge, 19250 Quesada Street, on Saturday, July 14, at 3:30 PM. Bob will be buried in Visalia, CA and another service will be held there to commemorate his life. Kays-Ponger Funeral Home, Port Charlotte is in charge of arrangements.
