Robert George Whitehorn

It is with great sadness that the family of Robert George Whitehorn Sr. (affectionately known as Bob by friends and family) announce his passing on Thursday, July 10th, 2025.

Robert George Whitehorn Sr. was born in Kingston, Jamaica to parents Imogene Elizabeth Bentley (née Bryan) and Percival Whitehorn. He attended Wolmer’s Boy’s High School in Kingston, Jamaica. In 1965, he migrated to the United States and settled in Brooklyn, NY. In 1969, Robert began his career as a Switching Technician at New York Telephone Company. While working at New York Telephone Company, he attended Monroe College and in 1994 earned his degree in Business Management with a 4.0 gpa. He was employed with the Telephone Company for 25 years and retired in 1995. Bob was the family disc jockey and videographer. He had an extensive compilation of videos and was a vinyl collector. In Jamaica, Bob was known to many as the “Video Man,” because he was one of the first persons to video concerts and soccer games, in his hometown and beyond. In the early days of the internet, he was well proficient in helping others navigate the web. He was extremely tech savvy and he loved the computer. Bob was a mild-mannered and even keeled man who maintained extreme calm and composure.

In 1995 Bob moved to Port Charlotte, Florida and pursued a career in Real Estate. Robert was blessed to be the Father of 2 lovely children Robert George Whitehorn Jr. and Sharon Whitehorn and Stepfather to Michelle Jacobs and Delroy Bryan. Preceded in death is his Daughter Cheryl Whitehorn. He is survived by his wife Madgeline Whitehorn and His Daughter-in-law Carol Whitehorn. Brothers Leslie and Lloyd Bentley and Sister-in-law Bridgette Honiwell-Bentley. His grandchildren Camille Whitehorn, Kaitlin Whitehorn, Robert Whitehorn III, Natalia Adkins, Christopher Watson, Sheena Bryan and Logan Bryan and Great-grandchildren Emerson Kinsley, Jace Adkins and Ellie Adkins. As well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
