Sam D. "Grandma" Suh, 102, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away May 5, 2012 at her home. She was born March 10, 1910 in Korea. She moved to the United States while in her 80's, has never spoken English and lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Jo and Carl Powell, owners of Powell's Nursery in Punta Gorda. In a newspaper article written in 2011, commemorating Ms. Suh's longevity, her daughter Jo shared the story of how Ms. Suh spent most of her life working in the rice paddies of Korea. She was a Christian woman who enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
She is survived by a large extended family which includes her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephew and their families.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am till 12 noon, Wednesday May 9, 2012 at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E Marion Ave, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. The Funeral Service will follow at 12 noon Wednesday at the funeral home.
