Stanley Martin Rose, Sr. of Punta Gorda, Fla. passed away January 16, 2016. A native of New York, he attended the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY, and served as a marine engineering officer in World War II.
Stan’s career in business took him to New Jersey where he founded Stanley Engineering Corporation, specializing in the maintenance of technical, industrial, and marine equipment. He located in Charlotte County, Fla. in 1974 and developed Mary Lu Mobile Home Park in Charlotte Harbor and later, Shell Creek RV Park in Punta Gorda. In 1993, Stan and his associates developed Lakewood Village, a manufactured home community of 218 units in Punta Gorda.
Stan is survived by his loving wife Eleanor Doris Rose, three children, Susan Vivian Rose of Port Charlotte, Cynthia Holly Wood of Punta Gorda and Stanley Martin Rose, Jr. of Cape Coral. In addition, he is survived by three step children, Nathan B. Godley (Joyce) of Fort Myers, Theresa L. Freeman (William) of Milford, PA, and Susan F. Napoli of Boonton, NJ. Stan was also blessed with a sister, Marie E. Bracco of Punta Gorda, and a brother, Albert L. Rose (Mary) of Spring Hill, Fla., and sister-in-law Cookie Rose of Punta Gorda. He also had the love of 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Stanley was preceded in death by his brother Robert J. Rose, his brother-in-law, Mike Bracco and his son-in-law, Michael Wood.
Memorial services Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home 635 E. Marion Avenue. Punta Gorda, Florida.
Stan appreciated the love of family, many friends and business acquaintances during his life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Animal Welfare League, 3519 Drance Street, Port Charlotte, Fla. 33980, or to the donor’s charity of choice.
