
He was born on December 19, 1929 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Mr. Duffy was a 1947 graduate of St. John The Baptist Boys High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was employed at the Central Intelligence Agency from 1953 until 1975. He was a past member of BPOE Elks the Canal Zone Chapter. Active member of the American Legion Post # 110, VFW Post # 5690, Knights of Columbus, St. Charles Borromeo Council # 5399, 3rd Degree. He was a National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association Member. He was Communicant at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church since 1977. Served in the US Army with the 14th DQ, 1st Infantry Division in Darmstadt, Germany from 1947 until 1952. Mr. Duffy firmly believed in public service and civic duty, he was published frequently on the letters to the editor pages of the local paper. He never flagged in his optimism that one persons efforts could make a difference, he believed that each person has a responsibility to participate in their community. He is survived by his wife, M. Regina Duffy nee Birkmire, they were married July 18, 1953 at St. Mary of the Assumption, Manayunk, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His 2 sons, Martin T. Duffy Simone of Houston, Texas and Andrew J. Duffy of Princeton, New Jersey; his 2 daughters, Regina Ray Carson of Sparta, New Jersey and Carolynn David Presser of Cambridge, New York; 7 grandchildren, Lauren of Houston, Texas, Sara and Matthew of Princeton, New Jersey, Hunter and Rachel of Sparta, New Jersey, Liam and Rosalie of Cambridge, New York; 2 sisters, Mrs. Veronica Bellis of Delran, New Jersey and Mrs. Joan Crane of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; 2 sister-in-laws, Mrs. Claire Dickson of Glen Olden, Pennsylvania and Mrs. JoAnn Marshall of Norristown, Pennsylvania; 1 brother-in-law, Thomas J. Birkmire Sr. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and dozens of nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Monday, January 22, 2007 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 P.M. at Kays-Ponger Funeral Home 2405 Harbor Blvd. Port Charlotte, Florida.
Funeral Mass will be Celebrated, on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Arrangements by Kays-Ponger Funeral Home, Port Charlotte Chapel.
