Victor "Vic†Thomas Brierley, 73, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016 in Venice, Florida. Vic was born April 1, 1943 to Thomas and Margaret (nee Brda) Brierley in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from Hazel Park High School in 1961.
A natural born artist, Vic honed his craft upon graduating from high school, when he attended the Art School of the Detroit Society for Arts and Crafts (now College for Creative Studies) and Macomb Community College. In 1962, Vic began a long career as an automotive illustrator, working for Aero Detroit, where he met his beautiful wife, Lorraine Jean Moxley. The couple was married in 1968. Before being hired as a concept illustrator by General Motors, Vic served in the Army as a medic stationed in the Korean DMZ. Vic retired from GM in 2001 after 24 years and 10 months of service.
Vic loved to spend time with his family and friends. A consummate motorhead, he was actively involved in restoring and showing classic cars. He also enjoyed fishing and John Wayne movies and was the most passionate Detroit Red Wings fan the world has ever known.
Vic is survived by his wife, Lorraine; eldest daughter, Victoria Gordon; youngest daughter, Lisa Brierley-Hayward; half sisters, Denise, Diane, and Gail; and a host of nieces and nephews. Vic was preceded in death by his parents; half brothers, Jim and Nick; and he and Lorraine's beloved dog, Sassy. A celebration of Vic's life is being planned for late May in Michigan.
