Virginia Maria Williamson

Virginia Maria (Piotti) Williamson, 81, of Punta Gorda, FL, formerly of Westborough, MA, died Monday, January 17, 2011 at Charlotte Regional Medical Center, Punta Gorda, FL after a long-term illness. She was born June 18, 1929 in Framingham, MA to Lawrence and Inez Piotti. Ginny spent the majority of her childhood in Ashland, MA, where she graduated Ashland High School. In 1951, she graduated with a diploma in nursing from Newton Wellesley School of Nursing. She was married to Leonard T. Williamson, Jr. for 43 years, and together they raised five children, residing in Westborough, MA for 26 years. Ginny raised her children as a full-time mother, and eventually returned to nursing at St. Mark's Preparatory School in Southborough, MA. She traveled extensively with her husband Leonard for both business and pleasure, and spent several winters in Punta Gorda before permanently relocating there in 1994. Ginny was an avid golfer, winning many championships in ladies golf, both in Westborough, MA and Punta Gorda. She was an excellent cook who loved to bake, especially for her family.

She is survived by her two daughters, Lynne Hanrahan and husband Scott of Lake Jackson, TX, and Nancy Cote and husband Michael of Lake Jackson, TX; three sons, Brian Williamson of Tampa, FL, Mark Williamson of Falmouth, MA, and Peter Williamson and wife Lisa of Exeter, NH; seven grandchildren, Kristen Culver and husband Tommy of Richmond, TX, Shawn Hanrahan of Frisco, TX, Joshua Williamson, Joseph Williamson, and Jessica Williamson of Exeter, NH, Greg Cote of Houston, TX, and Olivia Cote of Lake Jackson, TX; and her three sisters, Gloria Abu and husband Michael of Southborough, MA, Betty Ann Casey and husband James of Punta Gorda, FL, and Inez Busconi and husband Fred of Southborough, MA; plus many other family members and friends. Ginny was preceded in death by her loving husband Leonard and her sister Dorothy Masnovi.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda, FL on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Burial services will be held in Ashland, MA at a later date. Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, 25200 Airport Road, Punta Gorda, FL 33950.
