

Vito A. Rossi, 90, of Englewood, Florida, (a former long-time resident of Agawam, MA), passed away peacefully on April 2, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Shirley Rossi, daughter Lynne Watts of Sarasota FL, and Goddaughter Vita Saltmarsh and her husband David of Westfield MA.
He was born on August 26, 1927, in Easton, Pennsylvania, the son of Vito Donato Rossi and Adele LeFemine. He served in the US Navy during World War II from 1945 to 1948 on the USS Fall River (CA-131). He graduated from Western New England College with a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked for the Federal Government and GE; at the end of his working career he worked at the Naval Submarine Base in New London, CT, working on the periscopes for submarines.
He and his wife Shirley loved to travel and went on over 20 cruises throughout their lives, exploring the United States, multiple other countries, islands and culture. He love making things with his hands and during his retirement he built scale model sailing ships from plans; he also made furniture.
He was a true gentleman with a huge, kind heart and generous spirit, always a smile on his face and ready to help everyone.
A Celebration of Life Services was held in Englewood FL at the Gulf Pines Memorial Park on April 6, 2018, where the local VFW Post 10178 honored him with a gun salute and flag presentation.
