Born in Baie Verte, NB, where Noreen grew up on the family farm and spoke often of the excitement of growing up in a large family. Noreen loved nature; stopping and smelling the flowers and watching the birds and butterflies would always put a smile on her face.
Noreen met her husband James (Jim) on a blind date, she would fondly tell the story and giggle. Noreen was incredibly independent and was always helping others. She volunteered with Meal on Wheels, delivering meals to those in need. She was described by all that knew her as “Very Gracious and Dignified” but don’t think for a minute that Noreen wouldn’t speak her mind, she was spirited like that.
Noreen is survived by her; husband James Ross McFarlane, son James Arthur McFarlane and granddaughter Maridee Opal McFarlane.
Noreen was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Murphy) Wood, she was one of 12 children. She is survived by sisters; Lorna and Shirley and predeceased by brothers Basil, David, Lorne, Hugh and sisters Dorothy Jean, Helen, Marie and Marjorie.
Arrangements have been entrusted to First Memorial Burkeview Chapel in Port Coquitlam, BC. Noreen’s ashes will remain with Jim at their family home, where they can be found in front of her favorite window overlooking the lake and mountains that she loved so much. Please gather amongst yourselves to celebrate this wonderful lady and the great and happy life she lived.
Donations in memory of Noreen can be made to the PPASS (Post Polio Awareness and Support Society of BC) or a charity of your choice.
