August 22, 1936 – March 18, 2026
Audrey Anne Davis passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026 after a brief illness. She was 89 years old.
Audrey was born in London, England. She grew up in Carshalton, Surrey (England) and was pre-deceased by her beloved big brother John, half brother David, and stepsisters Patricia and Dorothy.
Audrey’s life was changed by the war that was going on all around them in London. They were evacuated from the city to a series of schools for care. The biggest impact though was the loss of her father Arthur, whose destroyer was sunk off Scotland on July 5, 1940.
With deep family connections in Canada, Audrey immigrated to Nova Scotia where she met her future husband Doug, married, and had three sons; Michael, Brian & Bruce. Doug’s navy service took them to Victoria and then back to Nova Scotia. On his retirement from the navy, they returned to BC.
While Audrey continued working in banking, she pursued her lifelong dream of higher education, eventually completing a Bachelor of Arts (Hons), Master's degree and Teaching Certificate from SFU, then a social work degree from UBC in 1997.
Now separated, and with degrees in hand, after a short look at teaching, Audrey embarked on a successful career in social work with a focus on senior care. She worked with the Vancouver Health Department and at Haro Park Centre. Upon retirement, she moved to Vancouver Island to be closer to her brother John and family. She continued to do volunteer work with local senior care providers in the Cobble Hill area where she lived until returning to Vancouver to be closer to family which now included 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
The family expresses their gratitude to the Emergency and Palliative Care teams at Burnaby General Hospital who cared for Audrey in her final days. She is at rest, and together again with her brother John.
Per her wishes, her ashes will be scattered at sea where she loved to sail.
