With broken hearts and deep love, we share the passing of Clifford Gibbons, who left us peacefully on April 7, 2025, at the age of 93. He was an extraordinary man — kind, gentle, funny beyond measure, and full of love for the people lucky enough to call him family or friend.
Born in Manchester, England, Cliff grew up in Clayton as the third of four children to Sarah-Jane and William Gibbons. At just 15, he met the love of his life, Rose, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. They were married for an incredible 74 years — a love story for the ages.
In 1974, they made the big move to Canada, where he worked first with CP Rail and later spent 20 years with School District 43. But his real work, the one that mattered most to him, was being there for his family. Whether he was planting flowers in his garden, sitting around the table playing cards or dominoes, or simply sharing a story and a laugh, he made every moment with him feel special.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Rose, son Jeff (Cindy), daughter Michelle (Marc), grandchildren Julien, Kyra (Shane), and Connor, and great-granddaughter Aubrey — all of whom adored him. He’ll also be missed dearly by his sister-in-law Hilda, and many nieces and nephews. He’s now reunited with his parents, sister Claris, brothers Robert and Eric, and his much-loved son Andrew.
He lived a long, healthy, love-filled life, and his spirit will live on in the laughter, the stories, and the hearts of everyone he touched.
Fly high with the angels. We’ll miss you every day and love you forever.
A memorial service for Clifford will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at First Memorial Funeral Services - Burkeview Chapel, 1340 Dominion Ave, Port Coquitlam, BC V3B8G7.
