Geraldine "Gerry" Barnes

Geraldine “Gerry” Mary Barnes passed away peacefully on June 11, 2024 at Crossroads Hospice. Born on Aug 7, 1936 and raised by her parents Robert and Ruth Shinn in St Vital (Winnipeg). She often spoke fondly of her upbringing. Gerry then met Fred and spent the next few years living in various Canadian cities until they settled in Port Moody. This past year they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Gerry is survived by her husband Fred; children Rob (Corinne), Mike (Laila) and Andrea (Henry); grandchildren Sydney (Joshua), Anna, Kendra and Tayler as well as her great-grandson Beau. She loved spending time with family and all of the many friends she made during her lifetime, especially close to her heart were those connections made in her community of over 50 years. Gerry always had a pet by her side including more recently their rescue pup Benji. She had many hobbies of which include baking, gardening, petit point and sewing. She enjoyed playing bridge in her clubs where she developed life long friendships. Of upmost importance Gerry loved her roles as Wife, Mom, Gramma, Great Gramma and Aunt. She was ambitious, active, fun, supportive, and loving in all family activities. Gerry touched many lives with her contagious sense of humour and brought joy to everyone around her. Gerry will be sadly missed by her loving family and her many friends. Thank you to the wonderful palliative nurses, doctors and team in the community as well as at Crossroads Hospice who took excellent care of Gerry.
