It is with heartbreak and sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Michael on June 5th. He will be deeply missed and mourned by his loving spouse of 20 years, Carol, his sons, Christian and Justin, their mother, Rosemarie, daughter-in-law, Ashleigh, adorable granddaughter, Peyton, brother Roger and his wife Belinda, niece Elizabeth, nephews Sid and David, Goddaughter Nicole, and extended family and friends in Ontario, the U.S, the Caribbean, and England.
Michael graduated from de Carteret College in Jamaica. He left Trinidad in 1971 to attend Bishop’s University in Quebec. From there he married and moved to start a new life in B.C. In the early ‘80’s, Michael began his successful 40-year career as a Real Estate Agent; 35 of those years with RE/MAX Sabre Realty in Coquitlam, specializing in River Springs.
However, Michael will be remembered as a loving father, caring grandpa, a devoted spouse, a loyal friend, a professional colleague, a gentle pet owner, an avid fly fisherman, an immaculate dresser and, of course, by his wry sense of humour.
We are indebted to the nursing staff and care aids on Unit C2B at Eagle Ridge Hospital and commend them for their exceptional care, compassion and patience during this time. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation on his behalf to an honourable charity of your choice.
A private family cremation ceremony on June 20th, will be followed by a public Celebration of Life ceremony in the near future.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.firstmemorialportcoquitlam.com for the McLaughlin family.
