It is with great sadness that Norm’s family share the news of his passing on Friday, May 23, 2025 at North Shore Hospice at the age of 90. Norm was predeceased in 2010 by his spouse of 54 years, Sheridan Fromyhr (Sherry), and is survived by his 3 children, Dawne (Dan), David (Pattie) and Craig, his 6 grandchildren, Tyler (Jennifer), Lindsay (Colin), Kirsten (Kyle), Danice (Jamie), Gabrielle (Kyle) and Dominique, his 8 great grandchildren, Leah, Paxten, Emma, Paige, Kohen, Nora, Maitlan and Cian.
Norm was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on July 11, 1934 and travelled to BC to find adventure at the young age of 18 years. He spent his early working life as a switchboard installer with the BC Telephone Company, travelling through Northern BC, and then later settled in Coquitlam and Burnaby where he worked in Public Relations at Telus until his retirement in 1987. He was involved in the community as a member of the Parks & Recreation Committee in Coquitlam and was a regular at the hockey rink any night of the week.
In 2015, Norm was blessed with a second chance at love when he met Ruth Warren while on vacation in Maui. Ruth opened her arms and provided Norm with love, companionship, laughter and comfort during the last years of his life. Norm loved a good “happy hour” and always had a story or a joke to share.
The family would like to thank the brilliant caregivers at Shylo Home Care, the kind and compassionate staff at Lions Gate Hospital and the magical North Shore Hospice for the care they showed Norm. We also want to particularly acknowledge Ruth for everything she did to fill our Dad’s final years with so much love. You are truly an angel on earth!
