

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Norman Earle Thompson on December 4th, 2025 at the age of 94.
He passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family.
Norm was born on August 9th 1931 in Vancouver B.C. to Phylis & Cy Thompson. He attended Vancouver Technical School where he excelled in Soccer and Track & Field, primarily as a Sprinter.
There he met the love of his life Laura Manuel (Thompson). They were married May 10, 1952.Their 73 years of marriage was a testament to enduring love and partnership.
Norm is survived by his beloved wife Laura, their three sons; David (Brenda); Brian; and Lawren (Alberta), his Grandchildren; Sarah, Andrea, Kieran, Rayna, Brianne, Denon, Kalen and Samantha. Along with eight Great-grandchildren and his sister Gloria.
He treasured spending time relaxing with his father and mother-in-law Don & Florence Manuel at their Bowen Island property.
Norm was extremely hard working and ran a successful business as a Painter/Decorator for many years and finished his career with the IUPAT “Painters Union” until his retirement.
He spent many years as a Soccer Coach and received the “Citizen of the Year” from the City of Coquitlam for his involvement with Youth Sport & Development in the Blue Mountain Soccer and Westminster District Soccer Districts.
In his retirement he kept himself busy by giving of his time at various Senior Care Homes and to his family and friends alike.
He and his wife also enjoyed travelling with friends on Chartered Bus Tours around the BC Province. His warmth, wisdom, and witty sense of humour will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Norm’s life was one marked by love, his generosity, laughter and deep commitment to those closest to him.
May he rest in peace, reunited with loved ones who have gone before him.
