

Carl H. Zimmer, of Chenango Bridge, 92, born on March 1, 1921 in Bad Eilsen, Germany. Carl went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 29, 2013. He is survived by his beloved family, loving wife, Mildred M. Zimmer; children, Joyce (Jim) Driscoll, Carl "Chuck" (Patricia) Zimmer; grandchildren, Colleen Driscoll, Danny (Brianna) Driscoll, also several of Mildred's family. Carl was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church. He began his career as a photographic X-ray technician at ANSCO when he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps where he was an aerial and land photographer during WWII. After his release from active duty he went back to work with ANSCO which became GAF and then he finally retired from Anitec. During his career he became instrumental in the development of the ANSCO Employee Federal Credit Union. He also was a member of the Board of Directors and founding editor of the Money Wise newsletter. Carl was a member of the Germania Maennerchor of Binghamton where he was a member of their choir and band. He built and played the Oompah Stick. He was an active scout leader, an avid wood worker, and an all around craftsman. He was a member of the American Legion. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church 1031 Chenango St. Binghamton, NY 13901. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. Family and friends are invited to call at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home 737 Chenango St. Port Dickinson, NY 13901 on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 from 4:00-7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Carl's name can be made to the St. Francis of Assisi Church 1031 Chenango St. Binghamton, NY 13901.
